Military and Veteran Students

Maximize your transition with CMU’s flexible, nationally-recognized programs available in online, face-to-face, or hybrid formats.

We value all our military and veteran students and thank you for your service. In 1971, we recognized that providing access to high-quality education, for military personnel and their families, at distance was as important as providing access on our main campus. We have support teams dedicated to the unique needs of military and veteran students. We'll help you stay on track to finish your degree and make sure you get credit for all applicable military training, saving you time and money on your program.

Nationally recognized programs

U.S. News & World Report has consistently ranked us among the nation’s top universities in its annual Best Online Programs for Veterans list. For seven years running, we have been continually ranked as a Gold Level Veteran Friendly School by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency.

Flexible course offerings

Study on campus or online. Courses are offered in 8,12 and 16-week formats to help fit your busy life. You'll choose from nearly 300 rigorous programs. Whether you’re an undergraduate or a graduate student, a CMU degree will help you reach your professional and personal goals with career-focused programs and hands-on experiences.

Affordable rates

Enjoy special tuition rates and an application fee waiver in recognition of your service. You may also qualify for additional scholarships and aid.

Personalized support

Our Online Student Services team is prepared to assist you in all aspects of your academic career.  We help you develop, clarify and achieve your academic goals.  Central Michigan University does not provide any commission, bonus or other incentive payment based directly on securing enrollments. We do not use high-pressure recruitment tactics, such as unsolicited outreach or same-day admitting and enrollment processes. In that respect, service members must speak with their Educational Services Officer (ESO) or education counselor within their Military Service before enrolling in Central Michigan University.
